Coach Mentorship Clinic - Calgary, April 10
The ALA is looking to improve the training of lacrosse coaches in the province. The True Sport Mentorship Seminar is aimed at improving the training of coaches via an interactive clinic with high level coach mentors. This is aimed at the PeeWee and above Box Lacrosse coaches in Alberta.
The seminar on April 10th (9am - 5pm - Calgary Saddledome) will include:
- presentations by Dave Pym, Curt Malawsky, Chris Osmond and Tracey Kelusky on offensive strategies, defensive strategies, fitness and nutrition, and specialty teams
- NLL Shoot Around
- Game Ticket
- Roud Table Discussions

Coaching Certification Programs (NCCP Programs) for 2010
Please read this first - there are some new procedures for 2010!
There are some new procedures in place for all coaches taking coach certifcation courses in 2010. Please review the following information before you register for a course.
** New of 2010 ** Coaching Certification Course Registration Procedures
- Register online with CDLA for one of the upcoming coaching courses (link is at bottom of course information below)
- You will be sent a course 'code' once we have received payment
- You must then login to the Canadian Lacrosse Association website using your code

- Complete the 'pre-clinic' assessment
- Once your pre-clinic assessment has been completed, you must register for the course via the CLA website
- Attend the required course.
- Complete your coach's workbook online through the CLA website.

Coaching Certification Requirements (ALA Regulation 17)
17.01 Each team in Field and Box Lacrosse shall comply with minimum CLA standards for coaches. In order to be eligible to coach, a completed CLA Form 100 is mandatory, filed with the ALA.

17.02 In games, teams are required to have the coaches required by CLA Certification rules on their bench. In practices, teams are required to have at least one of the coaches trained by CLA Certification rules supervising the practice.
17.03 Failure to comply with the above requirements will result in a $50.00 fine per Coach accessed to the Club or Association with which the coach is a member.
17.04 Form 100’s shall be submitted to the ALA Office by June 1 for Minor Box; July 15 for Major Box; and September 15 for Field Lacrosse.
17.05 All coaches must be 16 years of age in the year he/she wishes to attend a Coaching Clinic and coach an ALA sanctioned team.
17.06 All coaches are to complete the Respect in Sport program by July 1 for box and September 15 for field lacrosse in the first year of coaching beginning in 2009. If the coach has completed Speak Out in the previous year he/she may be exempt to the Respect in Sport. The coach requesting the exemption must show proof of certification.
17.07 Failure to comply with 17.06 will result in the coach being determined a member not in good standing and cannot participate in any ALA sanctioned activities until the Respect in Sport Program is complete.
Respect in Sport - Mandatory Online Training Course
As per ALA Regulations, all coaches and officials must complete this program. This course takes approximately 3 hours and can be completed in sections. The coach or official can log in and out at their convenience. The program remembers the last section completed. As per the ALA regulations, this must be completed by July 1st.

Registration Instructions:
- Select the language of your choice
- In the New Registration box on the right, choose the appropriate region you are active in from the drop-down selection box labeled "Select from these Regions".
- You will then be requested "Choose your Club" from a secondary drop down selection list which may appear.
- Click Register Now
- On the next page you will be prompted to accept the Respect in Sport Privacy Policy.
- Acceptance of the policy is required to continue with registration
- Next, complete the registration fields. Any field with a red exclamation mark is mandatory and must be completed. You will be requested to enter a username and password. These entries may be anything you desire, but may not contain certain special characters or spaces.
- Respect Group recommends using an email address as a username
- Once all mandatory fields have been completed, click Submit. You will be taken directly into the program. Only the first module will be accessible. Subsequent modules will unlock as the previous module is completed.
